RALEIGH, N.C., July 5, 2011 – GrowGreen Power Inc. (www.growgreenpower.com) today announced it has selected a site in Anson County, North Carolina for its $250 million GrowGreen Power center. “Our team has worked diligently to find a location that fits our needs,” said Bradley Nixon, Principal and CEO of GrowGreen Power. “Not only does Anson County provide what we need regarding our distribution and business requirements, but it’s also an area that will genuinely benefit from the job opportunities that our development will offer.” GrowGreen Power’s Anson County project will bring more than 300 permanent jobs to an area already struggling with high unemployment rates. The unique development provides communities with fresh food and renewable energy by combining a hydroponic greenhouse with a solar thermal / biomass power plant. The $250 million project integrates a 50-acre greenhouse with a 37-megawatt (MW) co-generation power plant. According to Mr. Nixon, GrowGreen Power is having ongoing, productive discussions with the North Carolina power companies regarding how the renewable energy it produces will enter the power grid. GrowGreen Power of Boulder, Colo., has selected Anson County as the site for its first greenhouse and solar, thermal and biomass power-plant project, the company announced today. The $250 million project that combines a 50-acre greenhouse with a 43.65-megawatt co-generation power plant is expected to create 300 permanent jobs. The greenhouse will initially produce tomatoes, and the power plant will generate 37 megawatts of electricity to be sold to the local power grid. ANSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Raleigh company is bringing 300 jobs to Anson County. Grow-Green Power announced plans to build a greenhouse for tomatoes. The company released some drawings of what the facility will look like. The company is focused on the environment, so in addition to the greenhouse, it will also power a generator that can feed electricity back into the power grid. The unemployment rate for Anson County has been dropping steadily from more than 14 percent at this time last year. The most recent numbers are from May and they show there is still an 11.7 percent unemployment in that area.Read more...
